Womensday blog

You are the bearer of life, you are the embodiment of compassion, you are the abode of discipline, you are the bond that keeps the family together, you are sugar, you are spice, and you are everything nice! This Women’s Day, I sincerely urge all the women to take these five vows to make this world a better place for you and other women.

  • I will never underestimate myself: You have the potential to achieve your set goals. The only thing that is hindering you is your self-doubt. Success, like Rome, can never be built in a day. Recognize your potential and the fact that the only way to reach your goals is by becoming a better person than you were yesterday. Everyone is progressing at a different rate. While you may take your own sweet time to achieve your goals, do not, in any circumstance, doubt yourself. This Women’s Day, let us recognize our potential and give up on doubting ourselves.
  • I will never let anyone disrespect me: People around you will say rude things to you, take you granted and underestimate you. They may be doing this unknowingly, but it is your duty to politely tell them off. How you perceive yourself will reflect on how others perceive you. Do not let anyone get away with disrespecting you. This Women’s Day, vow to recognize your value and to make sure others recognize it, too.
  • I will uphold the dignity of other women: It is natural for human beings to criticize and gossip about other people. We want others to fare good, but not better than us. This brings us to the saying “Women are women’s worst enemies”. You might be true to your friends, but I am sure there are some women in your life who you are jealous of, or who you dislike for some reason. And it is totally human to have those kinds of feelings. But, this Women’s Day, let us forget our woes, grudges, and contempt for other women. Let us be glad at other women’s success and achievements. Let us not bring each other down because of trivial mistakes, dress sense, skin colour, haircuts or tattoos. Let us support and encourage our female clan, because no matter how much men try, only a woman can really understand another woman. Let us make the proverb “Jealousy, thy name is woman” a mere myth.
  • I will be comfortable in my own skin: Women are brainwashed by the world that they should constantly look beautiful. A dark skin colour, an overweight body, pimples, and a few strands of grey hair, are looked down upon by many. Women who do not fit in the beauty standards put forth by fashion magazines tend to have lower confidence. This Women’s Day, let’s ditch the undue importance given to outer appearance. Instead of feeling bad about our bodies and trying to cover up flaws with makeup, and flab with body-shaper, let us focus on developing our personality, our values, and our wisdom. Love yourself the way you are.
  • My happiness will be my own responsibility: Being a woman is hard in a world where your every movement is a basis for other people to judge you. People, even your near and dear ones, will not always meet your expectations. If your happiness depends on how other people treat you, there are high chances that your happiness meter will be occasionally down. It will also mean that you would blame others for putting you in a sour mood. This Women’s Day, let us take our happiness in our own hands. Let us be happy in our own spirits. Walking, yoga, reading, painting- take up any hobby of your choice and take control of your happiness.

This Women’s Day, vow to treat yourself and other women like queens.
