Art balancing act

We all are faced with challenges and choices. Most often a woman has to make a choice between work and family, career and marriage. Well, one does not need to be sacrificed for the other. Both are equally important and contribute in totality to a woman’s life. They can very well coexist with a little smart planning and doing what we call is the balancing act. Here are a few tips that can be followed to master the balancing act.

  1. Accept the change: Most women try to continue the lifestyle they had before marriage, after marriage too. Though this is not an unusual expectation to have, it is an unusual experience for sure. Changes will come. Priorities will change and things may not seem as before. But that’s what it’s all about. To accommodate that change into the current lifestyle. Accepting it makes the transition easier. Further as the brood increases with children, lifestyle will change more. A loud jarring tv channel with constant swaps, or a fight for the remote may replace a quiet evening watching your favorite Tv channel. That’s absolutely fine. Maybe an occasional quiet evening someday will help in rejuvenating.

 

  1. Balance and not juggle: Most people get confused between balancing and juggling. Juggling is doing too many things at the same time whereas balancing is the art of prioritizing and doing things one by one. A work life balance is achieved when a bit of priority is marked to certain activities. Anything that can wait will have to wait. If a child is sick, he/she needs tender love and care and will have to get priority over a deadline to meet at work. Eventually things sort itself out.
  1. Let it go, but not grow: Any activity that does not immediately require attention can be let go for the time being. But should not pile up and grow to an extent that it goes beyond control. Women find it difficult to outgrow few things. A pile of laundry clothes that used to find its way to the closet perfectly ironed now lying in heaps in the bedroom waiting to be ironed. But that’s fine. It will eventually find its home. However, many weeks of unorganized closet could lead to a bit of stress on the day of clearing.
  1. Choose to do it right than rush: In order to get many things done, people tend to rush and in the process, they fail to get one job done perfectly right. And this adds on to the list of undone tasks again. If one follows above tips then rushing is not necessary. Preplanning on getting the important tasks done first will set the ball rolling.
  1. Exercise mind and body regularly: A balance in life is not possible without the balance of mind and body. Extra work requires extra stamina and extra energy. A balanced diet with regular exercise gives body the required boost. Nature is a big healer too. Walks in parks, having potted plants, vegetable gardens, keeping oneself surrounded by greenery is a good way of receiving healing from nature. They help to soothe nerves and stay calm.

Whether it is work, career, marriage, family, children or self. Every relationship is interconnected and linked. And the dynamics depend on interpersonal skills. When we keep a check on our inner emotions and triggers we are equipped and capable of handling the outer triggers and emotions too. The first balance comes from within…….and then shines outward!!!!!!!!
