“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it’’ – Steve Jobs Change – it’s a word that invokes mixture of feelings – Fear of the unknown, Anxiety about the results, Excitement in doing something new…all at once. For most of us who chose a career way ahead in early 20’s after careful deliberation, retracting from that and hopping onto something new might be unsettling. The metamorphosis of an ‘’Expert’’ to a ‘’Beginner’’ is always a bit daunting. While change is never easy, it takes immense hard work to succeed in a new venture. Image credit: Pixabay That’s it!!!! I want to work again. I want to be back in the industry. I want my career back… One commitment and hundreds of questions arise with in. Will I be able to do it? Can I manage work and home? Who will take care of my kids? Are my kids safe? Am I doing Right/ Wrong?  Will others be able to take care? How should I get back to work? Whom should I approach…? And if you manage to cross all these questions and reach the interviewer then they will have another set of questions ready for us. Ufff……They are much more skeptical than we are at this point. I wish we could prove it to the world-” we have raised ourselves above questions and self doubts. Hence we are here competing with the laterals….” Of course there should be change of attitude from the industry. It’s happening, but slowly. Let’s decipher what we can do from our side to prove the preconceived notion – “wrong”. Let’s accept this: Once you come out of your comfort zone one thing you must accept is – “Rejection”. Whether you get success or not, everyone gets rejection for sure. Now let us tell Aloud!!! Women getting back to work are much more efficient than often perceived!!! Women Empowerment Begins At Home

Image credit: Pexels Women have to pay a huge price to get empowered. As a couple, handling 2 P’s (Personal and Professional) will be a cake walk, but practical difficulties pops up when we lead a life in a family. A survey says Women in India more likely to quit their corporate jobs due to “double burden syndrome”. Workplace generally revolves around short term and long term goals, appraisals, meetings, deadlines. Building up a powerful support system at home energizes us to accomplish our career goals easily. Most of the successful empowered women we come across would have faced numerous hurdles at home. I planned to take up feedback’s from three sections of family members – Women (Wife, Mother, Daughter /Daughter in law), Spouse, Elders (Mother, Mother in Law) to decipher the root cause of all the hurdles at home so that it would help you to tackle it your own style whenever you face it. Women – Balance family and work I got a chance to query few women on how far their family supports their decision of pursuing their career. Only few replies were quite positive rest tend to be little bitter to hear. Most of the women say that their rapport with their spouse gets affected and few feel that spouse fail to recognize the hard work she put in running the family. Elders at home react in a cold way whenever she has to travel to office in case of any emergencies or family get-together. Consolidating […]

Image Credit: Pexels Even the busiest of the people will gladly find time out of their lives to criticize you- behind your back or right on your face. While you struggle to live up to everyone’s expectations, the murmur among the people never seems to die. Each human being possesses thoughts and perspectives of their own leading to the situation that no one will ever manage to please everyone around them. And that sort of thing isn’t even necessary. Really. So, no matter what the world says, it is quite alright to-   Be a homemaker OR a working woman: Depending on the thoughts the people around you hold, they will either encourage you to work, or nag you to leave your job; which is absolutely none of their business. You are an adult possessing complete sanity to think about what works best for you. Your choice is your own. Your child, your home, your job, your life.   Make mistakes: Unless you are literally or figuratively stabbing someone in the heart, mistakes are alright. If you have hurt someone, apologize and move on. Took a bad decision that ruined your life? Forgive yourself and be cautious next time. You are human. You are bound to make some serious errors in life, but you are intelligent enough to learn from them, right?   Be selfish: Being a good human being is like wearing beautiful but heavy earrings. People love them, but you have to bear its weight. It is a […]
